trip notes
The hike:The thought is to Hike into the Missouri lakes drainage and fish the 5 or 6 lakes in the area. Possible side trips include Treasure Vault and Blodgett lakes or over Fancy Pass to Fancy Lake, or into the Brady lakes / Sopris / lake Esther drainage just slightly South and west of the Missouri lakes area. Never made any of the side trips, knowing what I know now about some of the lakes over the top of the pass I should have…(see our second trip to this area)
The fishing: Packed in the boat, paddle, and PFD making the pack extra heavy since I had to carry all the gear James and I usually shared.
Raspberries were in season and munched on some as I struggled up the trail. Hike in was 4 miles and took me 4 hours to make it. Camped at the big lake on the far side from the trail. Still packed in a big steak and a smaller bag of instant potatoes as is the tradition. I toasted James with a nice Cabernet in a titanium mug :) Forgot my sleeping hat so I used a Tshirt or bandana to try and keep the bald head warm.
